Same as the other times, really. This is the third year in a row they've thrown me some overblown party. I said we could skip it... But nope, here we are. Another birthday blowout. Not that I have anything against people who DO like to party it up on their birthday, of course. Regardless, it's always flattering to see people celebrating 'cause of me. So I enjoy it for what it is.
Hahaha. I'm just messing with you. Some of the other Heartslabyul students asked me that like a month ago. I gave them all the same kind of silly response, but shockingly, they took me seriously.
I told Cater I wanted him to cover cake duty for the next six months of unbirthday parties. I asked Deuce to grow some herbs for my sweets in the botanical garden. I instructed Ace to do maintenance on my flight class broom, and I asked Riddle for a cram sheet for my next test. There were more, but you get the idea.
I actually used to cook our dinners back at home. My parents were too busy with their cake business to do it. I kept adding to my repertoire so my meals wouldn't get samey, and now I can make just about anything.
Hmm... Probably hamburger steak. My brother and sister used to ask for it all the time. Not to toot my own horn, but it is rather good. My secret ingredient is Walrus-brand oyster sauce. Gives it a nice savory flavor.
Haha. I was kidding when I said I put it in chestnut tarts, but I'm serious this time. It's used a lot with meat. It adds a certain depth of flavor. I also top my hamburger steak with the perfect sunny-side up egg. The nice, runny yolk mixes with the hot juices of the meat… You can imagine it, right?
Oh, sure. I'm good with desserts, but I mess up other dishes all the time. But when I serve them up, even after explaining that they're inedible, the students usually just gobble 'em down without complaint.
I had one for the first time when I was really young. Before I started elementary school. Apparently I was amazed that some flowers are actually edible. My parents said I kept trying to eat random flowers and weeds after that. Drove them nuts. I don't remember any of this, of course.
No kidding. I like the taste, of course... But I also love when the violet aroma overtakes my senses. It's like I'm lying in a bed of flowers. That's the real appeal to me. Sometimes I get huge cravings for them. My parents keep a stock of candied violets at home for their cakes. I used to snack on them all the time, and they'd constantly get on my case for it.
Didn't stop me from eating them, of course. So eventually they began setting some aside for me. Nowadays they'll send me some in the occasional care package. I like munching on them during study breaks. Incidentally, they can be used in other things too. You should try putting a few in hot milk as a sugar substitute. The purple hue blends into the milk and changes its color. Cool, right?
Totally. Okay, so what's your least favorite food?
Ah, that'd be mustard. One time, Chenya and I decided to test our luck with a little game. We had six cream puffs, and one contained mustard. I'm sure you can guess the rest—I drew the short straw. We didn't have any water, and Chenya was just laughing nonstop... I seriously almost cried. Anyway, it's my birthday, so I think that's enough unpleasant memories.
Thank you for sharing all those stories. And happy birthday again!
