Maleanor Draconia was the mother of Malleus Draconia and daughter of Maleficia Draconia. Her mother is the current queen of Briar Valley.
Appearance[]
Maleanor possessed a grand beauty, calling to mind the figure of her son Malleus in almost every physical aspect. Erecting herself in her tall, proud figure she possessed a pale complexion, a gorgerous face that emphasized her pungent emerald eyes and long, straight black hair that flowed down her entire back, held back by an elaborate silver crown and emerald green jewelry.
Just like her son, her most unique features was her pointed, elf-like ears, and long black horns on the top of her head. Her horns was covered in small ridges and curve back in an S-shape, though sharper.
In addition to elaborate garments adorned with silver decorations and green jewelry all over her body and ornate, sharply pointed shoulder straps, she wore lace gloves with pieces of black cloth covering the long sharp nails, a black dress with slits almost to the waist that revealed legs adorned with a peculiar garter belt and long, elaborate armor boots with curled, sharply pointed toes.
She was also seen holding a long, elegant silver and obsidian-black staff that along the top curled into brambles that bloomed at the tip like a flower with sharp petals on which it fluttered a green orb, Majestic Ember. Unlike her son, she was not shy about showing off her long dragon tail demonstrating her enormous pride as a Draconia.
Personality[]
From a young age, Maleanor proved to have such a stubborn, selfish and capricious nature that there were not a few troubles and worries she caused not only to the Senate but also to her mother and Lilia.
Throwing his advice to the wind, Maleanor demonstrated an enterprising and inquisitive side that, however, often lead Lilia to try to solve them in addition to those caused by her consort, Raverne.
As proud of her draconic lineage as of her renowned power, Maleanor considered herself above everyone, especially humans. Once accustomed to accepting them, after seeing them plunder her country in search of minerals and supplies and being the cause of her husband's disappearance, she soon took to hating them. Her powerful pride, however, played a key role in her eventual defeat.
Despite this, she showed that she deeply loved her husband Raverne and her son Malleus, singing him a sweet lullaby when he was still in the egg. She also trusted and loved Lilia, believing him to be up to the task of raising and protecting her son although she didn't hesitate to try to strike him with her thunderbolts if he dared to contravene her orders. [1]
Moreover, her love for her son was so deep that she gave him a final blessing to protect in wartime, which backfired in turn, and caused Malleus to be isolated by many in the time of peace.
Background[]
Many centuries earlier, Maleanor was born as the only daughter of Queen Maleficia Draconia inheriting a prosperous kingdom rich in magical resources and lands. Growing up alongside Lilia, an orphan adopted by her mother at an early age, and Raverne, a young nobleman of her age, Maleanor grew up happily spending her days in their company and venturing out of the castle.
At an unspecified point in her childhood, Maleanor obtained a marriage proposal from Lilia but she turned him down and, at least once, they sneaked out secretly, getting lost and staying out all night. This event created a great uproar and, although it was not Lilia's idea, the blame was placed on him. The only one who remained happy with the experience was Maleanor herself. [2]
Her troubles and whims were many later, such as breaking her mother's staff while playing with it or ruining engagement talks with a dragon who'd traveled for halfway world just for her. At the same time her tendency to cause all sorts of trouble caused the Senate and her mother endless pain, and although admonished, she would always throw Lilia's warnings to the wind.[3] [4]
Once an adult she married her childhood friend, Raverne, who, in addition to her Prince consort, became known as Dragoneye Duke and assumed a key role in the country's diplomatic missions.[5]
While Lilia assumed the position of General of the Right throwing herself into the crossfire assuming an increasingly well-known and fierce reputation, Maleanor became the Commander of the Royal Guards.
Establishing herself as the Lady of Castle Wildrose, a citadel south of Briarland (now Briar Valley) located in an expanse of wetlands, Verdurous Moor, she commanded her royal guards and defended herself against the wrath of many thugs from the Coral Sea or Howling Canyon. [6]
Because she and her mother were key figures in national defense and possessed superhuman powers, they underestimated the danger of the humans who, about a century earlier, settled on Cape Sunrise and began to thrive and expand in strength and numbers.
The situation degenerated to such an extent that, in addition to conquering all the land east of Howling Canyon, they took to plundering the entire territory in search of the valuable deposits of magestone, mystium and minerals, as well as cutting down entire forests. With the mountains stripped, the direbeasts, deprived of their habitat, poured into the villages and wreaked havoc, and the fae suffered immeasurable damage. [5] [7]
This was the reason why Maleanor refused to meet Henrick and the Silver Owls with their letter delegating a series of demands but her cold dismissal sparked a war.
Overwhelming them in numbers and power, since aided by both foreign countries and money-thirsty mages and mercenaries, Briarland tried to send diplomats who could strike a deal but all ended up never returning. [6]
Among her victims was Raverne, her husband, who, although he promised to return soon to her, Lilia and Malleus, still unhatched, ended up disappearing and suffering a fate still shrouded in mystery.
The speculation given was that, once at Cape Sunrise, he ran into a confrontation with Dawn Knight and lost his life. [6]
Sending Lilia, Baur, and her royal guards to send a final delegation to serve as an ultimatum to the Silver Owls, Maleanor's Castle Wildrose ended up under siege while Lilia walked into a trap and was seriously injured.
Realizing that it was all a plan, Lilia and his men rushed to the castle to save their ruler. [8]
Once at the castle, Maleanor decided to leave her son in Lilia's care while she decided to accept Henrick's proposed duel with Dawn Knight and act as a diversion to save Malleus. [4]
Lilia arrived at the Castle Blackscale just in time for realize that Maleanor had fallen in battle. Blinded by grief for his loss, he resigned his role as General without protest when the Senate wrongfully accused him of negligence and failure in his duties as the Royal Guard. [9]
Within ten years, Briarland lost the war and Castle Wildrose was claimed by the Dawn Knight and his countrymen, changing its name to 'Bladevale'. In an imprecise span of time he became Prince Consort to Queen Leah, who gave birth to Silver. [10]
Under the new Briar Valley, Lilia was recalled under orders of Her Majesty, Maleficia, to take care of Malleus. The promise made to Maleanor (and the memory of Raverne) was the incentive that pushed Lilia to accept the request.[11]
After over two centuries of waiting, Malleus was born thanks to Lilia sacrificing his life force to him. But his act was seen from the Senate as yet another smear of infamy to discredit the noble and pure lineage of the Draconia family, consequently they tore Malleus away from him.
