Ramshackle[]

MC[]

Leona and MC first meet when MC trips over Leona's tail in the botanical gardens.[1] He remembers MC from the sorting ceremony, asking if they're the one that the mirror said can't use magic. After sniffing MC, he confirms that he "[...]can't smell a speck of magic on MC." He continues to get worked up and threatens MC before Ruggie appears and diffuses the situation.

Leona doesn't meet MC again until the gang (Ace, Deuce, Grim, and MC) go to warn Jack Howl about what's happening to Spelldrive players.[2] He also (begrudgingly) helps out MC in Book 3, when Azul takes Ramshackle dorm as collateral, by letting the prefect and Grim sleep in his room. He even uses his signature spell, King's Roar, to turn all of Azul's contracts to sand after MC and Grim threaten him with never getting a peaceful night's sleep again if he doesn't help.

Grim[]

Although they don't interact often being in class, year, dorm, or clubs, Leona is a recurring character since the Prologue and interacts with Grim in multiple events. They meet in Book 1 during a brief but disastrous encounter and in Book 2 they are destined to meet again in unfortunate situations, as Grim is one of the individuals who interferes with his plans to 'overthrow' Malleus from the Spelldrive Tournament.

In Book 3 he is convinced by MC and Grim to get help with the situation with Azul, but only because it is a situation in which he would have benefited too. Ruggie, however, seems to suspect that Leona may have a weakness for Grim, also highlighted by Jamil during the period of segregation at S.T.Y.X.
Leona seems suspicious and not at all surprised of Grim’s black-stone-eating habit, but his lack of commitment and care leads him to refuse to give Jack a real answer when he questions him on the topic.

Leona in general doesn't seem to have a great relationship with Grim, considering him a nuisance. While Grim appears intimidated by Leona, that doesn't stop him from insulting him. His disparaging comments about Leona are not uncommon, as well as his wilful failure to defend himself against often mistaken accusations.[3]

Savanaclaw[]

Jack Howl[]

Leona thinks of Jack as a puppy - someone who doesn't follow orders and acts hastily. But he also sees potential in Jack, acknowledging he's a promising athlete, as well as hoping that Jack can learn from his mistakes. When the upperclassmen were picking on Jack during Spelldrive practice, going as far as to use magic against him, Leona stepped in to save Jack from trouble, stating that "babysitting a pup that hasn't even opened its eyes yet is part of the housewarden job description."[4]

Ruggie Bucchi[]

Ruggie acts as Leona's attendant, as Leona often leaves various tasks for Ruggie to handle, from cleaning his room to carrying out Leona's plans. In exchange, Leona pays him or lets Ruggie use his money to purchase things for himself (within reason).

Octavinelle[]

Azul Ashengrotto[]

Leona recognizes Azul’s cunningness with his deals, but is aware Azul is willing to do dirty tricks to ensure the requirements on the contracts aren’t fulfilled. Leona also mentioned having done a contract with him, but does not mention any details other than him not putting his magic at stake.[5] However it seems that Leona paid handsomely for Azul's help, which Azul references in the fifth; Leona is not amused.

Jade Leech[]

Leona finds Jade strange and warns MC to not trust him, he is also aware that Jade is always after something and is always wary of him. [6][7]

Floyd Leech[]

Like his brother Jade finds him strange, if not annoying, and his modus operandi is to ignore him, as seen during the Spelldrive team's pre-Halloween training and mentions in a voice line to MC.

Scarabia[]

Jamil Viper[]

Leona considers Jamil to be a schemer and believes that Jamil could betray or hurt Kalim one day, despite Jamil's denial of his claims.[8]

In Book 6 they end up working together to defeat Ortho and Idia. Initially there is a lot of tension between them, where Leona constantly turns down his help and sometimes goads Jamil into annoyed outbursts. Jamil implies that others can’t be trusted to act on their own and grumbles constantly. Leona has finally had it and tells Jamil a harsh truth he needed to hear; that Jamil thinks far too highly of himself, while also making up excuses to avoid actually acting.

This is time when Leona’s wisdom shines because he recognizes that Jamil is similar to him, but also different. Many of their life experiences align eerily well, but Leona sees in Jamil hope for change. This speech later gives Leona the confidence to get Jamil's help power the thunderbolt lance against Idia and Ortho. Later, Jamil and Leona have a heart-to-heart and finally they see each other for what they are, and can truly “understand” in their differences and similarities, their strengths and weaknesses.

Pomefiore[]

Rook Hunt[]

Leona comes from the same country as Rook, he considers Rook creepy and is aware and annoyed by the fact that Rook is always watching him.[9]

For Leona to refuse to engage with Rook seems to be a pattern, although he tries his best to avoid any kind of interaction or annoyance with him. One of Leona’s issues with Rook is his refusal to listen to what other people say, but he now seems to have gotten used to it and encourage others to give up and not waste their breath with him.

After all, it is interesting that Leona prefers Malleus to Rook, despite his visceral dislike for the first. A fact that unites him with Malleus.

Epel Felmier[]

Leona is in the Spelldrive club with Epel as his club leader, he cares about Epel´s performance, while still being lazy.[10] Leona and Epel don't interact much together, but Epel speaks of him often and many times he says positive things about Leona, as he considers it a leader that can be relied upon. Although much less explicitly, Leona takes care of Epel outside of training and is willing quick to go to his rescue, if necessary.

Diasomnia[]

Malleus Draconia[]

Leona seemingly has a one-sided rivarly with Malleus, as well as a deep dislike towards him that mainly stems from Malleus's repeated victory against Leona in Spelldrive tournaments. He is one of a few to show no sign of fear for Malleus.

Despite there being bad blood between the two, anyway, Malleus and Leona manage to work surprisingly well together if they have something in common to defeat, as happened during the previous year's Beanfest. Their discordant relationship, however, seems to prevent them from realizing that they have a lot in common. Even Malleus insinuates this last fact; insinuating that as long as they remain at the NRC they will be able to experiment with things they could never do at home.[11]

Because they interact often and appear to talk to each other often, is insinuated from Silver that they are friends even though both are at odds.

Sebek Zigvolt[]

Leona does not have a good opinion of Sebek, often considering him a nuisance. While Sebek dislikes Leona, due to him being rude and disrespectful towards Malleus.

Lilia Vanrouge[]

Leona is very explicit in her antagonism towards Lilia, and is the only character (or one of the few) who realizes his false youthful facade. While Lilia doesn't despise Leona, he still doesn't have a flattering view towards him.

Despite his quirkiness and spine-chilling agility, Leona is willing to put aside his grievances for his goals and recognizes his unparalleled abilities. [12] Yet Lilia plays a key role in compromising Leona's plan during Book 2 and it is only a long time before he come to confront Leona again, ready even to ambush.
Implicitly Leona will get an apology from Lilia in which claims to have his own regrets, wishing that he had shown more maturity and suggests that they call it water under the bridge, having long since gotten over what happened at the Spelldrive tournament.

Night Raven College Staff[]

Dire Crowley[]

While Leona never outright states what he thinks of the Headmage, it is deducible that he doesn’t like Crowley from various little interactions they have. Since Leona hates being ordered around by others and he dislikes doing things he deems meaningless or not his responsibility, it is highly possible that imagine don't be too happy whenever Crowley dumps extra work on him; a very recurring occurrence both in the main story and in various events.

Although his role as Headmage, this does not necessarily translate into respecting the man or his authority, as Leona still often refers to Crowley in disrespectful ways since the Prologue. His dislike may be exacerbated by the decision of Crowley he made in Book 2 during the Housewarden’s meeting.
Leona puts up a fight with the suggestion of Crowley for inducted Malleus into a Hall of Fame and resists the decision, using his charisma to convince the other dorm wardens to vote in his favor. [13]

Leona in general is not very amicable towards Crowley, but more than once he shows suspicion for his actions and makes a point of mentioning to Jack and Ruggie that the Headmage likely insured the SDC event for just in case something went wrong. [14]

Family[]

Falena Kingscholar[]

Leona seems to hold some resentment or distaste towards his older brother, Falena, for becoming the king of Sunset Savanna simply because Falena is the first born son.

Cheka Kingscholar[]

Cheka is Leona's young nephew who is also currently first in line to the throne of the Sunset Savanna after his father, Falena Kingscholar. Cheka is introduced at the end of Book 2, when he goes to see his uncle in the infirmary after the Spelldrive Tournament ends. Leona makes a big show of finding Cheka annoying, but secretly seems to care about him and his safety, scolding him for losing his bodyguards. Cheka also indicates that he calls and writes Leona often, though he doesn't tend to get a response.

Falena's wife[]

Leona has a deep respect towards all women, this makes Leona usually nicer and less arrogant with her. [15]
