So you've said about a hundred times today. I understand you're enthusiastic about finally having underclassmen, but try to rein it in a bit. You have a lot to live up to this year.
sigh* Usually, one prepares this sort of thing in advance. Do try to get it together, housewarden. Your robes have finished being altered and are hanging in your closet. See? You've grown since last year, so I had the back expanded and the sleeves lengthened.
...Excellent. Your brows are "on point," or so I've heard the saying go. Next we must dress you. Spread your arms. I'll slide the robe on, and... Yes, the shoulder length is perfect. Finally, we raise the hood, and...done. Is the belt too tight?
Hmmm, let's see... Uh, I'm far from an expert on this kinda stuff, but I think I look great! I doubt I'd notice anything that slipped past your watchful eye, anyway. Aha ha!
I'd like it to have more ornate patterns. Ooh, like a magic carpet, for instance! And wearing the hood makes it difficult to see my face. How're any of us wearing these robes supposed to tell each other apart? How about we all wear headscarves instead? At least, all the members of Scarabia should. Ones with blue and purple feathers would be perfect!
Yeah, but who decided that? With everyone dressed in such a dreary color, it's like we're attending a funeral or something. Orientation is supposed to be festive, right?
Our incoming freshmen are finally starting their lives here at Night Raven College, after all. So we need to recognize that and get into the celebratory spirit! I've got a great idea. I'll go ask the headmage if we can make the robes a brighter color.
You are sorely mistaken, Asim. Black is a noble color, and one perfectly suited to revelry. The legendary Thorn Fairy herself is said to have worn a black dress on the occasion of the princess's birthday.
I do not believe that flashy colors are the only way to express one's jubilation. Many others among the Great Seven also had a fondness for black. Indeed, it is recognized around the world as a formal color.
Should we head to the Mirror Chamber? This is my first major duty since becoming housewarden! Let's go give a warm welcome to all the new members of Scarabia!
Don't worry. I'm gonna knock this outta the park. Oh, hey! Come to think of it, Malleus was still in his regular uniform, even though orientation is about to start. Wonder why.
