You can play those during the day, and you can do that at school. That ain't what I want... I want somethin' fun and thrilling that you can only do at night on this island!

This one gets red, this one gets purple... Add in some of the stinky dirt I dug up near a hot spring and...do like so...attach a stick... Ahaha, NICE. I'm a genius!
You wanna know what I'm makin', Stitch? They're called flying jellyfish. Wait, what're they called on land again? Oh yeah, "fireworks." You know what those are?
Oh, I didn't mention that? Yeah, I'm a merman. Used to live under the sea before I went to sciroul on tanú. Anyway, so this was back in elementary school. We snuck up to the coast to catch the fireworks. Mama and Dad said never to go near the coast without a grown-up 'cuz it was dangerous.
Huh? Nah, not like that. Humans and merfolk ain't been scared of each other for ages now. We've done a lot of interactin' ever since a mermaid princess married a land prince. It's dangerous near the coast 'cuz of the choppy waves and tides. Mer-kids can end up stranded on land out there, Grown merfolk can generally get back to water on their own, but it ain't that easy for kids.
Actually, some people run stores for merfolk on the coast. They stick out over the water like the beach house we built, and they sell food and accessories and all sorts of stuff. My folks run a few shops like that themselves... But they're all for grown merfolk. Kids ain't supposed to visit those places unless they've got adult supervision. Jade and I liked to hit up the coast and play there without tellin' our parents, though. I mean, c'mon. When someone tells you not to do somethin', that just makes you wanna do it even more, right?
We found all kinds of neat stuff near the coast... And our favorite thing of all was the ftying jellyfish. It was so cool watchin' them from underwater. The light from the fireworks reflectin' off of the dark water like stars... It makes you feel like you're swimmin' in the night sky.
Say, you come from outer space, right? That's cool. I wanna try swimmin' in a real night sky one of these days. Comin' from sea to land had a lot of surprises. Stuff I didn't recognize, stuff I never even knew existed before... And if I could visit space, I bet I'd see even cooler stuff. After all, there's a whole bunch of other aliens besides you and Gantu, right?
Maaan. Jade's never gonna believe me when I tell him I met bona fide aliens on a deserted island. He'll be all like, "You have such a vivid imagination, Floyd." I know! You should drop by Night Raven College and visit sometime. Bring your friends, too-preferably extra-bizarre aliens and stuff. Like, I dunno... The evil scientist who made you? Or maybe a one-eyed spy and master of disguise? I'm just spitballin' here.
My word... When you put your mind to something you want to do, your focus is incredible. I wish you could maintain that attitude when you're on the clock.
Why would I? I mean, I'm sure he's stuck runnin' the lounge all by himself, and he'll whine all about it when we get back... But nah, it ain't about wishin' he was here. It's more fun if we just watch what we like so we can tell each other about it later, right? Then if somethin' sounds cool, you can check it out together, and if it doesn't, you don't have to bother.
Jade's prolly got the same mindset. He got obsessed with mountain climbing outta the blue and started doin' it by himself. Why get hung up on seein' the same stuff together when it's more fun this way? In fact, if we were together 24/7, I'm pretty sure we'd be at each other's throats. Used to be we'd get into huge blow-up fights every day and beat each other up.
Hey, we barely fight at all these days. We know if we both went all-out, one or both of us could end up seriously hurt. But I'd still put up a good fight.
You get me. What should I do tomorrow? It ain't every day we get whisked away to a deserted island. I gotta play hard, cut loose, do everything I want, and keep the excitement comin' so there's never a single dult moment. That way when I tell Jade all about it, he'll be all like, "You positively must bring me with you next time.
