Uh, nice, I guess? If I had to gripe about anything, it'd probably be the suit. I know it's campus tradition for students to wear this getup on their birthdays... But seriously? Putting "Birthday Boy" on the sash? Way too much, if you ask me. I'm practically wearin' a sign that screams, "LOOK AT ME!" It's super embarrassing. On the other hand, some people were like, "Oh, I didn't know it was your birthday!" And then they gave me gifts. So I can deal.
Yeah. True story. He hands me this swank-looking box and goes, "Hey Ace, it's your birthday, right? Go ahead and open the box." I open it and there's this cool, gold-framed watch with a black band sittin' there. So of course I assume it's for me, right? Then he goes, "No, that's mine. This is yours." AND HE HANDS ME THE EMPTY BOX. Just a box! Nothing inside! Can you believe the audacity?! Later he did fill the box to the brim with candy. But I was like, is that supposed to make me happy? I'm not five years old!
Hmm… I guess my dad, if anything. He's not a mage, but he's ridonkulously good at old-fashioned magic tricks. Obviously that includes basic tricks with coins and cards... But he can also do cooler illusions, like pulling flowers out of thin air! It's like a whole magic show! My brother taught me the nuts and bolts for sleight of hand. I think our dad inspired him too. Whenever I visit home, we show off what we can do and challenge each other to spot the trick.
Absolutely! I've practiced so much that I can do tricks equally well with both hands. I'm right-handed, but I can still do things like building a card tower with just my left. Actually, I just thought up a new trick recently. I'll have to show it to you sometime.

What do you think of your fellow freshmen? You know, Deuce, Jack, Epel, and Sebek?
What kinda question is that? Well, I guess if you're really dying to know… I'd say Deuce is like a boar who charges headfirst into everything. His internal brakes are busted. I feel like he sees me as a rival. I'd wipe the floor with him if he ever wanted to throw down, of course.
Jack's the kind of guy who plays it too cool for school, but is still the first to step up and do work no one else wants to. His whole above-it-all shtick can get obnoxious. But he turns into a puppy dog around stronger guys, so he's actually pretty easy to deal with. I couldn't believe my eyes that one time I saw him heel for Riddle. All in all, he's a decent guy.
And as for Epel? First time I saw him, I did a double take. Wondered what someone with that kinda beauty was doing here. Don't tell him I said that, though. He'd get super mad. I think on the inside, Epel's basically like Deuce.
I guess that leaves Sebek. Loudmouth doesn't even begin to describe him; he's always yelling something or other about his precious Malleus. Oh yeah, and he talks down to us for being human. Dude's a total fae fanboy. You should call him out on it, [MC]. Running through the list like that, our freshman class does not lack for enthusiasm, does it? What's up with that? Are prestigious schools a magnet for type A personalities?
Do you have something against that type of person?
