Oh, I'm agile as all get out, but I'm still a step behind when it comes to flying. You know how in the first day of flying class they make you just float the broom off the ground? That took me forever... And the other day, when we had to fly along a white line on the ground? That was WAY harder than it looked.
Really? Guess it's rough for all the freshmen. In my class, most of us ended up swerving from side to side like we were the world's most uncoordinated snakes. That said I DO think I'm pretty much getting the hang of it now. I'm a fast learner, so if I buckle down and bang out some good practice, I bet I'll master flying in no time.
I guess... It sure beats having to sit still behind a desk, you know? Plus all the turns and somersaults and advanced stuff the upperclassmen get to do looks so cool! Once I get to that level, I bet I'll absolutely LOVE flying!
Yeaaah, a lot of people struggle with it. And I get why. At the start I had no clue how to handle problems like "express the force of this fire spell in an equation" or whatever. But then things kinda started clicking into place once I memorized the basic formulas. Like... "Express phenomenon A as a spellscript" or "derive the strength of spell B using this method" SOUNDS complicated... But knowing there's only one correct answer kinda takes the pressure off, you know?
Really? Well, just write down the ones you can remember, and try plugging in numbers. You might not get full marks, but you'll get SOMe points at least. Can't say that about any of the other subjects.
I've got trouble with anything that's straight up rote memorization. Boring stuff falls right out of my head. I mean if you want a good grade in History of Magic, you gotta commit the ENTIRE textbook to memory. All those dates and everything. They say writing it down helps you retain it, but that doesn't work for me at all. I'm not good at slow and steady.
Yep. Like...so many. On top of schoolwork. *sigh* Can't do anything about that, but I wish my classes could give me a break. Forget studying, let's DO things. I think I'd learn a lot more USING magic than trying to cram a bunch of theory into my head.
Oh, so you don't like being behind a desk either, huh? I bet you hate having to just sit there and be quiet. I mean, same here. Maaan, I can't wait to get to do the fun classes the upperclassmen get to do.
I mean, nothing much? If I stay in the dorm, I usually play games in my room or read some manga I borrowed. 'Course, just stayin' in my room gets boring, so sometimes I'll head into town. The last day off we had, I went around noon and kicked around until the evening.
You know, just...hanging out. Shopping, I guess you could say. But actually, something really lucky happened! I scored this limited-edition parka from one of my favorite brands. It's totally sold out online! I guess since we're so remote, no one came to buy it up here. Worked out for me. It's nice how many stores there are on Sage's Island that cater to students. 'Course, restocks take a while compared to the city, and there's less selection too.
Hm... I guess I also grabbed a burger for lunch. The chain I used to go to back home has a shop here too. Soon as I saw the sign, I got hungry. But even though it was the same burger, the special sauce didn't taste quite right. Maybe it's a regional difference thing. I wanna try something else on the menu next time. You know what—we should go together!
Hah hah, that's not what I mean. It's just there weren't any burger places in my village. I'd eat at one every once in a while when we drove into town, but that's it. Don't remember anything about the sauce.
Really? Your hometown didn't have a shop? But that chain is EVERYWHERE. Weird... But now I get why you'd be impressed by the town here. That does it—I gotta take you there. I can give you some pointers on what to order.
