I believe it was named that because the goods on offer included everything up to actual gold.
And indeed, a great many stalls here do sell luxury goods. |

Pickpockets hit this area a lot. They like to target people flashing cash around. |

Given how rarely I left our borders, I was continually fascinated by the tales of his sojourns.
